Changes To The UCAT In 2025

There have been changes to the UCAT exam for 2025, and it is now potentially more difficult. Now in 2025, there will be 4 sections of the UCAT. Previously, there were five sections, so one part has been removed. The part which has been removed is the Abstract Reasoning, and this was the one part which students scored highly on in general.

The 4 UCAT sections are:

(i) Verbal Reasoning.

(ii) Decision Making

(iii) Quantitative Reasoning

(iv) Situational Judgement.

The UCAT is always at the same base level, but it is the competition for Medicine and Dentistry places which has increased. Additionally, the students applying for these two courses are better prepared each year. There are a number of ways to get ahead and increase your chances of getting into Medicine and Dentistry courses. Most important is to start thinking well in advance. Then, get the correct advice and make a plan. Start on your UCAT revision 6-8 weeks beforehand. The last 1-2 weeks should be on UCAT Mock tests only for 3-4 hours daily. On the day of your UCAT test, the questions are chosen at random, so it can happen that your particular test was more difficult than the average, but the opposite can also occur. Usually, everything evens out.
