What Is The Easiest UCAT Section?

Quantitative Reasoning will generally be considered the section in 2025 out of the four to score the highest. If we look at the Sectional scores in 2024 in order of lowest to highest, QR was the section with the highest average at 649.

Verbal Reasoning (VR) 601
Decision Making (DM)620
Quantitative Reasoning (QR)649

Please note that the section on Abstract Reasoning will no longer form part of the 2025 UCAT exam.

The reason for the Quantitative Reasoning UCAT section being the easiest is that there is a set number of calculations that you are expected to perform quickly. An example is working out “increases or decreases” for Percentages. Once you know the shortcuts, these can be extrapolated to any such example. Students find that there is a lot of “repeatability” in the calculations. There are, of course, traps to fall into, such as where the decimal point may be moved or units being changed; however, these can be spotted quickly with practice.

Answers can also be derived by using elimination or by honing in to say 2 choices and then making a guess, allowing you a 50% accuracy. Quantitative reasoning is the section compared to others, which most students can rapidly improve in a relatively short time. Once you start to recognise certain calculations, these can quickly be put down to memory, saving time in the actual exam.
