The Verbal Reasoning Section of the UCAT is officially where the lowest score occurs, looking at statistics. However, this is not the case for everyone. We regularly see students who have no trouble with the Verbal Reasoning Section but struggle with a different section entirely. The hardest subtest on the UCAT is the one which you find the hardest, and there may be particular ways to analyse and improve your performance. The Verbal Reasoning Section is the section where the average is lowest across all parts of the UCAT test.
It is always possible to become better in the Verbal Reasoning section by better scanning of information, using cues, identifying flagging and practice. If you still struggle, get a Tutor to help you. You can also hone in on a particular question type that you might be struggling with. This could be such as “drawing an inference”, as this can be difficult to navigate when answering or reading Verbal Reasoning paragraphs.
As you can see in 2024, the Verbal Reasoning score average was only 601, and in contrast, the other sections were much higher.
