What Is A Bad Score In UCAT?

A bad score is one which is in the lower deciles once all the official UCAT results are published. This would be typically at or below 620 plus a Band 4. Eventually, being in the lower quartile will be considered a bad score, leading to failure. A bad score in UCAT means that you are unlikely to be shortlisted for a Medicine or Dentistry interview. You will then either have to do a different course altogether or have a gap year and then apply a second time around.

Most students eventually end up with a score in the mid-range, which is not a particularly bad score, but not a great score either. Essentially, a bad UCAT score will result in your Medicine or Dentistry application being rejected outright. The exact level of score fluctuates a bit from year to year; however, to assess your score as being bad, it would be in the lower deciles.
