How Do You Answer “What’s Your Greatest Weakness?”

“What is your number one weakness?” comes in various guises and is a common interview question for medical school applications. So what is the best way to go about answering this type of question?

A Question About Limitations/Weaknesses Is Actually One About Dealing With Failure.

You want to have a story from your own life that demonstrates resilience and to tell that story convincingly. Use the SPAR or STAR technique to set up the narrative and describe how that failure sets you up to be more resilient.

You should mention at the end that being a doctor means that you will get tested throughout your career and failures will occur. Resilience is the ability to adapt to stress and adversity and is part and parcel of becoming a successful doctor.
