When Do I Get My UCAT Test Results?
As soon as you have finished your test at the Test Centre, your results will be handed to you so you know your individual score. In addition, you can view this online via your Pearson VUE account within 24 hours. Then, on sending your UCAS application, the UCAT universities will be able to see your scores.
What Is A Good UCAT Score?
A good score varies slightly between one year and the next. You will need to compare your score with the other candidates that you are competing with. Therefore, a good, bad, or average UCAT score will vary from year to year as the questions will be different and each year group performs slightly differently. However, our experience indicates that with a score between 650-680 you will expect to receive at least one interview. With a score above 680, we consider this to be favourable with receiving more than one interview. And any score above 700+ is exceptional and therefore you should expect at least 3 interviews with the university looking very favourably at your application.
What Is An Average UCAT Score?
The average UCAT score changes each year due to the factors mentioned above however to give you an idea, in 2019, the average UCAT score was 620 and in 2020 the average was 628. In our experience, if you attain a score between 620 and 630, then expect to receive an invitation for one interview.
What Is A Low UCAT Score?
We advise that if you score below the 610 mark, then consider applying for a BMAT Dental School. Although, we see students being successful with a low UCAT score, one needs to be realistic and change the application strategy accordingly.
Variation of UCAT Scores per section.
- In comparison per each section, students tend to be most comfortable with Quantitative Reasoning, getting an average score of around 675 to 680.
- Abstract Reasoning scores usually fall between 630 and 640
- Verbal Reasoning, with the average score at around 570 which is the section where more students struggle under time pressure.
- Decision Making scores see more variation than any section.
The best way to compare previous year scores is by analysing scores for each decile. The Situational Judgement is scored differently into 4 Bands so look at these according to the Band you attain.
